MW2 Update/Speculation

Image

* MW2 will, from a technical point of view, be a mod of Modern Warfare. I expect a solid game from the perfectionists at IW, but nothing that we have not seen before. In fact, it is my guess that CoD:WW will be seen as having raised the bar higher, technologically-speaking.
* While Treyarch's CoD:WW brought in sumptuous water and fire effects, co-op mode and countless other additions to the CoD4 engine (created at IW), IW will most probably not utilize them.
* The guys over at IW are frame rate nuts...meaning that they think frame rate is very important in their games. I am a big fan of that thinking. I think that one way that Treyarch goofed on CoD:WW was that it was a 30fps game on recommended settings. CoD4 was a 60 fps game on those settings. MW2's frame rate will probably be somewhat lower than MW, but should be greater than that of CoD:WW.
* Look for better glass shattering effects, reasonably nice water - but fire effects nowhere near as nice as those from Treyarch.
* Also, my guess is that 2.0 shader will not be supported. Time has passed that technology by.
* CTF will not be in MW2. It wasn't in MW and since MW2 will only be a mod of MW...it won't be there.
* As I mentioned, I don't think they will bring in co-op. I just don't think it worked in CoD:WW - at least not in the PC world. I say this because I think that IW will spend most of their efforts on making a spectacular SP game - not on bringing in co-op code. Treyarch spent an awful lot of time doing peripheral work, like Co-op, and forgot about CoD:WW's gameplay...IW probably won't make the same mistake.

Prediction Changes

Image

After just finishing 3rd in the German EPS by beating choZen 2-0 in maps, Prediction Gaming have announced what most of the community was already expecting, namely, some changes in players.

After working their way from being an unknown German team, to one of the best in Germany and up and coming in Europe, the team felt it was time for some changes in roster as there were some issues going on in the team, which were adressed best by changing players.

The player who will be leaving the team is Solu, one of the founding members of the team. Reason for leaving the team according to the given statement is that Solu and baLu did not get along, which influenced the teams performances considerably. Having to make a tough decision, Solu decided to step down himself, in order for the team to perform best in the future.

The player who will be replacing him on a trial base is the well known ET and COD4 player Daniel "humM3L" Müller, who has played for teams as SPEED-LINK and more recently for diamondZ.

The team will be attending The eXperience in Denmark end of July and solu will be on the lookout for a new team shortly.

The prediction line-up is the following:

Marvin "MasterM" Schmahl
Moritz "mzzzaN" Boddenberg
Oliver "baLu" Halemba
Marco "duffy" Mayer
Daniel "humM3L" Müller (trial)

Statement Solu to TEK-9.org: "After I joined prediction in november '08 we made it from a semi cod team to one of the best teams in germany aswell and we aren't that bad in the international scene I guess. After 8 months of up and downs and alot of matches behind us I decided to leave prediction because there have been always some tensions between me and baLu. On one side I am sad to leave a team like pred which has made very good results last week and a very nice team with masterm, mzzz duffy and their new player humM3L. But on the other side I'm am happy to start a new era of codgaming in my online live. To find a team i come along with and maybe go to the summerlans even if its kinda late now. Teamplay is everything for me and if something between players or in the team doesnt fit I can't bring myself to a good level. Feel free to contact me for playing some games."

YoYoTech call it a day.

Image

To some, this has been a long time coming, to others, it will come as a bit of a shock. But today is another sad day in the community as we see another big team drop. YoYoTech impressed everyone as they stormed to a 2nd place at i36, and looked relatively promising at Lan79. With some good online performances to back it up, they were definitely a "top team" in the community.

But as seems the case with most UK teams, motivational issues kicked in, and soon the team were struggling to find the time or the energy to get in the practice they needed to remain at the level they had set themselves. Maybe the fact they were unable to qualify for the EPS UK Season 2 or the lack of good results in the Infused Cup were to blame, but today they have thrown in the towel.
